Rowan Master Gardeners Annual Plant Sale

The Rowan Master Gardeners host an annual Spring Plant Sale, held the 1st Saturday in May each year!

For 27-years, the Master Gardeners here propagate and grow 90% of the plants sold at the annual Plant Sale. The plant sale has been held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Rowan County Center – formerly at the Extension office location on Old Concord Road – and will continue to be held here until the NEW gardens and greenhouse are in place at the Rowan Community Center.

Members propagate and care for between 3,000-5,000 plants annually to be offered at the Plant Sale. Its success continues to grow and expand annually. The Plant Sale offers perennials, annuals, trees and shrubs, herbs, and more. In more recent years, we have strived to include a strong selection of native plants to encourage environmental sustainability, and we will continue to ensure native plants are available annually.

The Rowan Master Gardener Plant Sale is the major fundraiser for our 501(c)3 organization. We consider it a public educational opportunity for all gardeners to receive inspiration and practical ideas for their own landscapes. The proceeds from the sale go to our many education, beautification, and service projects, some of which are:

· NEW: The Healthy Living Teaching Garden at the new Rowan Community Center and new home of the Rowan County Agriculture Center.

· Landscaping at Hurley School Gardens

· Landscaping assistance at other non-profit organizations and public properties

· Demonstration Gardens and Vegetable Trial Gardens at the former Ag Center at 2727 Old Concord Road.

· Education programs at the Salisbury/Rowan Farmers Market

· Monthly education programs and speakers

· Scholarships and more
